I was diagnosed with a rare MPN Blood Cancer, Essential Thrombocythemia, in March of 2022. My platelet counts have been high for years and after several years of chronic illness this was finally investigated by Hematology in February 2022, a bone marrow biopsy confirmed my diagnosis in March 2022. I am considered low risk at this point, however I need to take blood thinner, as I am at high risk for blood clot, stroke & heart attack due to my blood not coagulating properly. I will be closely monitored by hematology ongoing. There is a chance that this will progress to acute leukemia or Myleofibrosis. This is where you come in...I am joining this initiative in hopes for a cure and more research to prolong the lives of those living with incurable blood cancers like mine.
Light the Night brings Canada together for one magical evening to share stories, remember loved ones lost and pay tribute to our heroes, bringing light, love and hope to dispel the darkness of blood cancers.
I am taking the first step and showing my support & I hope you will too.
Thank you,
Melissa xo
