On October 22nd, I will walk in memory of my friend Terry, who passed away from Acute Myeloid Leukemia in March 2021. Terry was like family, and was an inspiration to me both personally and professionally.
My participation this year includes volunteering my time with the executive leadership for the LLSC, where we are aiming to raise a record breaking amount nationally of >$6.5M.
Why the LLSC?
I chose to get involved with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) because I was inspired by their mission to cure blood cancers like leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma.
Thanks to their contributions (and others), survival rates have increased from 10% to 85%+ for several blood cancers.
But they don't stop there.
The LLSC also provides on-the ground support to patients and their families. Their support team is present from the day of diagnosis, to planning their care, and in the worst cases, helping navigate end of life planning.
Many patients recognize the LLSC as having made a marked contribution to their care, and in some cases, have recognized the LLSC for helping them identify life-saving treatments.
Thank-you for joining us in the fight against cancer, and for considering a donation to my personal campaign. Your generosity makes a big impact on patients' lives.
