Top Friends and Family Team in Canada!!! 2021 was an astonishing year for Team #RachelStrong OVER $139,000.00 Raised and we couldn’t be more grateful for the support from you, our donors. Over the last 4 years, you have made a huge impact on the blood cancer community.
Team #RachelStrong has raised almost $380,000 for LLSC.
Together, we look to the future without blood cancers, help us crush the $500,000 raised goal we have set for ourselves this year.
Our long story, short…
Rachel my daughter was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in November 2017 at the age of 7.
After relapsing, our family wanted to do more to help the blood cancer community, fund research and raise awareness around pediatric AML. It was important to us that Rachel connected with the charity and felt part of a community, knowing that she wasn’t alone. That’s when we decided to register a team, #RachelStrong, for Light the Night Vancouver and support the LLSC. The light is such a powerful symbol when you are going through such a dark time.
Transplant Day came in October 2018, and her sister Hayley was able to donate the gift of life to her big sister. Today, Rachel has been in remission for almost 3 years and we are so grateful. She is now 11 years old and in long term follow up. We wouldn’t be in this place of recovery if it wasn’t for our friends, family and the LLSC.
There is still another year before Rachel is considered cured and with our support, the LLSC is be able to continue their work funding advancements in research and targeted therapies that are making a difference for patients and families. We are stronger together and we will continue to share our story because it’s time to end blood cancers.
In 2020 we made history, and for the first time Canadians celebrated on the same day, virtually. The community reunited and raised close to $5 million to support blood cancers, despite the pandemic.
Now in 2022, COVID-19 continues to significantly impact people affected by a blood cancer. Never has our community needed us more. Never has the challenge been greater.
Never has it been more important to take back the light that cancer and COVID -19 have tried to take away! Let's make a difference. Join me at Light The Night, or make a donation today to show your support.
