September 3, 2021 marks one year since I received my stem cell transplant. To celebrate and to show my gratitude to the team who saved my life, I am excited to participate in Light the Night with other survivors and supporters.
It has been quite a ride since what I thought was an allergic reaction in April 2020 turned out to be leukemia. From the lows of chemotherapy and the isolation of Covid, to the joy of finding out my sister was a 10/10 stem cell match, I have been surrounded by so much care and love. From my wonderful family and friends, to the amazing doctors, nurses and support staff at the Leukemia BMT program, I never felt alone through this journey.
Thank you so much for supporting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada. You are helping to fund research that will save lives, and that has made it possible for me to take my son to his first day of kindergarten. I look forward to many milestones to come.
A big thank you to my supporters who helped me reach my initial goal of $1000 in 24 hours! Let’s keep going!
