Thank you for stopping by!
In the winter of 2021, I was home in Cape Breton to be with my mother during her last weeks. During that time, I developed rib pain that I thought was caused by a strain, or maybe from sleeping on different mattresses during our COVID quarantine.
When I returned to Calgary, I sought help from my wonderful physiotherapist, who suggested I get an x-ray to find the root cause. The very next day, I received a call from the doctor?s office; they believed I very likely had lung cancer due to a mass on my lungs. Terrifying news!
After more scans and a biopsy, I was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B Cell Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, an aggressive disease. The Tom Baker Cancer Centre wasted no time, there were just ten days between my diagnosis and the start of chemotherapy.
Chemotherapy that would not have been possible without research and support.
Chemotherapy that saved my life.
I went through six cycles, every three weeks, from the Friday before Victoria Day to the Friday before Labour Day. Today, I am grateful to share that I am nearly four years cancer-free.
Anything you can donate to support this life-saving research is deeply appreciated.
