ALL in for Ryan
Hi! I'm Ryan's wife, and I've created this team on behalf of our family and friends to raise money and awareness for blood cancer across Canada.
On February 7th our world turned upside down when Ryan was diagnosed with B-ALL (B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). You never expect to hear the words "you have cancer" or "I have cancer", and in that moment, everything about life changes.
Since then, Ryan has endured more than 15 rounds of chemotherapy, 3 rounds of immunotherapy, 5 bone marrow biopsies, 10 spinal taps, 2 kidney biopsies, and countless hospital stays, blood transfusions, MRIs, CT scans and ultrasounds. In the middle of all this, doctors also discovered a 6cm tumour in his right kidney, which led to the removal of his right kidney, on top of his Leukemia diagnosis.
It's been an unimaginable journey, but Ryan has shown me the true power of resilience and positivity. Despite everything, he has never been mentally or emotionally stronger. He recently underwent an allogeneic stem cell transplant, which is his curative path forward and is recovering well.
Over the last eight months, we've learned to never take the small things for granted: a family dinner, a walk in the sun, or sleeping in our own bed. And through it all, the support of our family, friends, and community has carried us. Every call, message, and gesture of love has meant more than we can put into words.
That's why Light The Night is so meaningful to us. It's not just an event, it's a night where people across Canada come together to honour those we've lost, celebrate those who have battled, are living with and are survivors of blood cancers, like B-ALL. It's a night filled with love, remembrance, hope, and a reminder that none of us are alone.
Blood cancers are the fifth most common cancer in Canada, affecting over 155,000 Canadians, including families like ours. By joining or donating to our team, you're helping shine a light toward a future without blood cancers.
Thank you in advance. xxx
