This year it's different for us.
I know that I am one of the lucky ones as a 21 year survivor of Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. My husband Murray Ward now celebrates his 4th year Lymphoma-free. For these things we are grateful.
Survivors usually carry white balloons as they walk with pride along the Light the Night route on Toronto's waterfront. This year, things are different. I'll be carrying a gold balloon in memory of one of my dearest friends who did not survive her battle with this awful disease despite fighting incredibly hard. She's left us way too soon. Her legacy was not cancer. It was light, laughter and a zesty spark for life. Gold represents the vitality that truly does represent her spirit well.
As an LLSC Board member, I know that the funds we raise together make a real difference. They make a difference in supporting people affected by blood cancer so that no one needs to feel alone on their journey. They make a difference in fueling the really positive outcomes seen in new treatments in development and in market.
Thank you for your care and support. I can't express how much it means to us.
