On October 20, 2021 I lost one of my oldest and dearest friends to A.L.L.
Carol Goerke (Woodley) had been a friend of mine for more than 40 years. She was smart, caring, funny and compassionate with an unwavering love for her family. We grew up together and she was as much a part of my life as anyone ever could be.
Carol's diagnosis came without much warning and her illness stole her from us before we could even absorb it. She took a little piece of my heart with her when she went and the world is just a little less bright now.
Trying to find a way to honour Carol has been difficult because the pain is still very real.
Light The Night celebrates cancer survivors, honours those we’ve lost and gives hope to those facing a blood cancer. The money raised helps fund research and critical programs and services that help support Canadians at every step of their blood cancer experience.
During her battle Carol expressed enormous gratitude to those who donate blood and also to those who support research in Blood Cancers. That's why I chose to participate in Light the Night as a way of celebrating her legacy.
I need your help to make a difference!!
Please consider donating what you can to help in the fight!
