In 2003 I was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). I can still remember the words coming out of my doctor’s mouth... ‘You may have leukemia,’ in that moment I looked at my sister and just knew my life was about to change. I experienced amazing care from my doctors and nurses at the Tom Baker Cancer center. I now have more perspective on how incredibly fortunate I am to have my ‘bonus’ years. I want to help raise more awareness and funding to support developments in treatment so that someone else can maybe receive their own ‘bonus’ years.”
Light The Night brings communities across Canada together for one magical evening to share stories, remember loved ones lost and pay tribute to our heroes, bringing light, love and hope to dispel the darkness of blood cancers.
I am taking the first step and showing my support.
