On this Thanksgiving weekend, I am reminded of how grateful I am for the unwavering support of family and friends.
On this Thanksgiving weekend, I am also reminded of how grateful I am to be healthy.
What is “Remembering James”?
Our "Remembering James" team is in honour of my husband's nephew, James Wilson, who, at age 25, passed away from complications arising from his treatment for AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia).
Our team goal is to raise $4,000 by October 23rd!
What will your donation do?
At the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada, we fund critical blood cancer research and support services for patients & their families. Over the last 60 and even 20 years, survival rates have QUADRUPLED for some of the 137 sub-types of blood cancers, thanks to our tireless focus on research. BUT … there is still much more to be done. There are currently over 127,000 Canadians living with, or in remission from, a blood cancer. Every 23 minutes, a Canadian will be newly diagnosed with a blood cancer.
LLSC also offers FREE patient services like emotional support, reliable fact sheets, webcasts, peer support programs, grief resources, financial assistance and our Life After Cancer program. All services are provided free of charge to our patients and their loved ones. We are participating in Light The Night for them, with them, and to benefit them, so that there can be fewer and fewer stories that end as James' did.
While you may not directly know someone who has had leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma, you most certainly have been touched by CANCER in some way. Because blood is present in all tissues, advancements in our blood cancer research have the wonderful effect of creating advancements in MANY other types of cancer (bone, prostate, brain, breast and ovarian cancers) and diseases like diabetes, multiple sclerosis and lupus.
2 EXAMPLES OF BLOOD CANCER RESEARCH’S IMPACT ON ALL CANCERS:
- Chemotherapy was first developed in the treatment of blood cancers
- Over the last 20 years, 40% of all new approved cancer drugs were first approved to treat blood cancers
YOUR DONATION TO THE LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA SOCIETY OF CANADA IS AN INVESTMENT IN HEALTH. Thank you!
Please consider donating $50, $75, $100, $150, $200, $300 or $500 (donations of $25+ will receive a tax receipt) – please be sure to click the red “Donate to Stephanie” button on the right side of this page!
From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for supporting us in any way you can!
