I’ve done triathlons in years past to raise money for charity, but this year I’m going all in!
I’m setting myself the goal of fundraising $15,000 CAD for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and The Montreal Children’s Hospital, and to earn it, I’m aiming to complete Ironman Florida on November 5th with a race goal of under 13 hours. That’s a 2.4 mile / 3.8km ocean swim, a 112 mile / 180 km bike followed immediately by a 26.2 mile / 42 km run, lovingly referred to as a marathon! Madness? Quite possibly!
I have supported The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) for over 7 years through their Team In Training fundraising program while I was in New York, and while LLS has made incredible progress to improve treatments and care for people suffering from blood cancers, there’s still so much more to do. The Montreal Children’s Hospital (MCH) is an equally incredible cause, and one that really resonates with me as a father of a 3 year old, 2 year old and 3 month old!
I’ll keep folks posted on training and progress with a countdown to race day (158 days and counting!)
Many thanks in advance,
Dan
P.S. My partner will also be getting an award for being an IronWoman for looking after our kids while I’m off training for hours on end!
