Those of you who know me well know that my niece Ellie might have only been a child, but I considered her my best friend. My best friend that was taken from me - from all of us - way too soon.
Ellie was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Leukemia when she was 5 years old, and she unfortunately passed away on June 15th, 2021 just 2 weeks before her 9th birthday.
This year I am participating in "Ellie's Champions for Change" as part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada's Light the Night event.
I am taking the first step in showing my support for this incredible organization in memory of Ellie.
Light the Night brings communities across Canada together for one magical evening to share stories, remember loved ones lost and pay tribute to our heroes, bringing light, love and hope to dispel the darkness of blood cancers.
Blood cancers are the fifth most common form of cancer in Canada, affecting more than 155,000 Canadians—our family members, our friends and neighbors, our colleagues, ourselves. But together, we can shine a light toward a future without blood cancers.
Please consider donating generously in honor of Ellie to help our fight against this awful disease. I know that one day, with all our help, we can find the cure.
