My name is Grace McCrea, and I’m from Halifax, Nova Scotia. I am a blood cancer survivor.
I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in June of 2020, which was found coincidentally during open heart surgery, where one of my lymph nodes was removed routinely. So not only did I find myself facing a global pandemic, open heart surgery, but also blood cancer, all at the age of 21.
Cancer and its treatment bring many things; it affects you physically and mentally; takes a toll on those around you, no matter what age.
Today I am lucky to be in remission, something that not everyone gets to experience. But because of research towards the cancer community, and fundraisers such as Light the Night, you get to support people like me; lets work towards ending all blood cancers and cancers alike.
