In September 2016, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Burkitts Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. In February 2017, after 4 grueling rounds and 8 different kinds of chemo, I went into remission.
This fundraiser is very important to me. Being a blood cancer survivor has affected my life in so many ways. I could not have beat it with the help of my family and friends, and also the doctors, nurses and those who donated blood. This helped save my life. I feel even more empathy for those fighting this fight, because I understand the struggle.
I have become a Peer Match Volunteer to talk with those who are experiencing the same kind of cancer I had. I walked in their shoes, and I feel like I was put through that journey for a cause...to help.
Light The Night brings communities across Canada together for one magical evening to share stories, remember loved ones lost and pay tribute to our heroes, bringing light, love and hope to dispel the darkness of blood cancers.
I am taking more steps by showing my support.
