I have a personal connection with the LLSC. In 1998 at the age of 35 I was diagnosed with acute Myeloid Leukemia. At that time the survival rate was around 5%. I was one of the few lucky ones that survived, now I am doing what I can to help others survive blood cancers.
In 1998 I participated in a clinical trial. This involved receiving chemo treatments multiple times stronger than normal chemo treatments. The HiDac study I was involved is now the normal course of treatment, I’m glad I am around to hear that the study was a success.
Some people say if the disease doesn't kill you than the treatment might. I am living proof that this statement is true. One of the chemo drugs I received in 1998 was very hard on the cardiovascular system. I have had 3 heart attacks which resulted in 3 operations.
Light The Night brings communities across Canada together for one magical evening to share stories, remember loved ones lost and pay tribute to our heroes, bringing light, love and hope to dispel the darkness of blood cancers.
I am taking the first step and showing my support.
If you able to donate anything $5, $10 or whatever you can afford would be greatly appreciated. if you can't donate that's fine, feel free to post any encouraging thoughts on my webpage.
