On May 24, 2023 my life changed. I went to my family doctor thinking I had a bacterial infection in my lungs, but turns out it was a large mass in the space between the lungs. After some testing, on June 7,2023 I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Since then it has been a whirlwind of doctor's appointments, tests, and chemotherapy. I am forever grateful that this was caught early and that treatment was started quickly and has been manageable.
I found Light the Night from googling if there was any society near me for Lymphoma. I was looking for a community that knew what I was going through. From looking at their website I realized I found the right place. The donations to this non-profit organization help so many people who are living with blood cancers, like mine and many others. The money is going towards research, community support and advocacy which is very important. While my cancer is treatable and can be cured, there is no telling what the future holds. I could need a back up plan and that is what Light the Night is here for.
I never thought at the age of 29 that I would be in this predicament. But here I am and I am going to use my voice to help others around me that is going through the same thing. So please any donation, none is too small, will go a long way. So that myself and others have a peace of mind while going through this tough journey.
