Welcome to Deus's 80th Birthday "Let's Go Biking" Fundraiser
In 2024 I had the privilege of turning 80 years young. To mark this occasion I have decided to undertake this fundraiser in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, an organization very near and dear to my heart.
Over the next 30 days, to raise funds for blood cancer research and support in our community, I will be doing 8 different and special bike rides, one ride for each decade of my life. I plan to ride a total of 80 km's and will select the rides in 8 different municipalities within the lower mainland. I will make my bike route selection from the book “Let’s go Biking”, a wonderful book which summarizes great bike rides in and around the Vancouver area.
I support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society because when my first grandchild Sophie was a baby she was shockingly diagnosed with Leukemia. Thankfully she was treated successfully and is coincidently just about to turn 8 years old. From this experience however, our family realized that there are too many children and adults whose stories do not look like my grandaughter's and more can be done to give them treatment options and hope. From support from their generous donors, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is able to do important research in Canada for children and adults facing blood cancer which will bring those options and hope.
