Over the last 6 years, you have made a huge impact on the blood cancer community, with the creation of a $1 million pediatric research grant in 2022 and then LLSC brings the Dare to Dream program to Canada in 2023. For the first time, Canadian kids will have access to groundbreaking precision medical care through the Pediatric Acute Leukemia (LLS PedAL) program.
It is amazing how far we have come in the last 6 years and #Rachelstrong will continue to advocate for more.
Thank you for continued support! Together, we shine bright!
Our long story, short…
Rachel was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in November 2017 at the age of 7.
After relapsing, our family wanted to do more to help the blood cancer community, fund research and raise awareness around pediatric AML. It was important to us that Rachel connected with the charity and felt part of a community, knowing that she wasn’t alone. That’s when we decided to register a team, #RachelStrong, for Light the Night Vancouver and support the LLSC. The light is such a powerful symbol when you are going through such a dark time.
Transplant Day came in October 2018, and her sister Hayley was able to donate the gift of life to her big sister. Rachel is an survivor and we are so grateful. She is now 14 years old, entering Grade 9 and we wouldn’t be in this place of recovery if it wasn’t for her medical team, our friends, family and the LLSC.
