In 2003, Christina was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. She then embarked on a 17-year journey of treatments including chemotherapy, radiation, countless blood and platelet transfusions, other blood products and two stem cell transplants as well as numerous medications. She also underwent many procedures and surgeries. Sadly, the consequences and complications of leukemia and its treatments became too much for Christina's body to endure and she passed away peacefully in September 2020.
Our team is formerly Team ECL. Since the loss of Christina, it is aptly renamed Let's Remember Christina for it is our team's desire to carry on in honour of Christina's memory and to celebrate her legacy as a wonderfully warm and genuinely kind person.
Light The Night brings communities across Canada together for one magical evening to share stories, remember loved ones lost and pay tribute to our heroes, bringing light, love and hope to dispel the darkness of blood cancers!
