Light The Night brings communities across Canada together for one magical evening to share stories, remember loved ones lost and pay tribute to our heroes, bringing light, love and hope to dispel the darkness of blood cancers.
I am taking the first step and showing my support.
I intimately know the impact that the LLSC has on blood cancer patients. After the initial shock of my leukemia diagnosis wore off, I needed to learn everything I could about this thing that was trying to kill me. That was when I came to know the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada.
At the recommendation of my medical team, I read through the LLSC information booklets available at my hospital. I’ve also utilized their extensive resource library, connected with their resources team on occasion when I inevitably had questions, and eventually I started participating in regular online support group meetings. Having the opportunity to connect with others who truly understand the plight of blood cancer, is absolutely priceless.
Light the Night is the ultimate haven for patients, caregivers, and the whole blood cancer community to come together as one. From a patient perspective, Light the Night is sacred. It’s when our battles are honoured and when we in turn are able pay tribute to those who courageously fought before us.
So, on behalf of myself and patients all across BC and the rest of Canada, thank you so much for your commitment to the cause. With your support, money raised by the Light the Night Campaign will improve the quality of life of people affected by blood cancers. It will help fund research toward better, more effective treatments and supports for those facing this often life altering disease.
One day blood cancer won’t have to permanently change a person’s life, like it has mine. One day no one will have to die from blood cancer. You can save lives. I am alive today because people just like you stepped up to make a difference. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
