I have the honor to be part of the Executive Leadership Committee for the Light the Night campaign, from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) this year, in order to honor the resilience, energy and dignity of all those who are directly or indirectly affected by blood cancer. I am writing you today to tell you about this important cause that I am supporting and very much passionate about.
Light The Night is Canada’s biggest annual fundraising campaign benefiting those affected by all types of blood cancer. When you or someone you love hears the words “you have cancer”, it’s one of the darkest moments in your life. This is why, Light the Night celebrates cancer survivors, honors those we’ve lost and gives hope to those facing a blood cancer.
By participating in this campaign, we are creating a better cancer experience by easing the mind of a person newly diagnosed with the right tools to manage what’s ahead, to supporting a family member struggling to care for a loved one in treatment, giving everyone fair access and options for treatment and setting a high bar for blood cancer research in Canada.
For example, LLSC created a new partnership between LLSC and BioCanRx that will help Canadian scientists find options for some blood cancers that have not responded to other treatments. The study is led by Dr. Natasha Kekre, a hematologist at The Ottawa Hospital. LLSC is one of the funding partners in this important initiative, providing $500,000 this year to support the project. In total, LLSC is funding 45 researches projects in Canada becoming the second organisation funding the most project for Cancer patients. Our goal is to become the fist organisation in Canada thanks to your support.
Today, I invite you to donate to the campaign. You can join the fight for blood cancer making a donation. With your donation, you can be sure that you are supporting not only a nonprofit organization, but families across our region who need your help.
