I am so proud to say I have created a team for the “Light the Night Walk 2024”! My team is in loving memory of the dearest people in my whole life. My mom and dad in heaven. This fundraiser hits very close to home as both of my parents lost their fight to cancer. These losses have heavily affected me, my sister, and my family in multiple ways.
On October 30th, 2014, my father Donato Facchini passed away from Acute Myeloid Leukemia after a 3-year battle. On January 24th, 2022, my mother Carol Rosemary Facchini passed away from Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma after a mere 2-month battle.
My mom and dad’s resilience even going through cancer treatments was so inspiring, They’re my heroes. Both loved life and lived it to the fullest. After my dad passed away when I was 16, my mom did everything in her power to help me thrive and live a good life while grieving herself. I have always admired her strength and the sacrifices she made for me and our family. My mother getting her terminal cancer diagnosis was extremely tough, but she fought her hardest and she said she did it for us. I’ll never forget how proud of her I am.
In 2011 me and my older sister participated in “Light the Night” for the very first time, being able to represent my father who was currently awaiting a bone marrow transplant in Princess Margaret Hospital.
Me and my family know first-hand how costly and stressful dealing with treatments and accommodations are, while also having to bear the heavy weight in your heart of the emotional pain of watching a loved one struggle, or worse if you are the one struggling yourself.
I remember my mom telling me a month before she passed how she wanted me to have a happy long life, and she wanted to hear about all my adventures one day. And even 2 years later I admit it’s so hard for me to understand what she meant. I am channeling my grief in a way that I feel is positive and honouring so many people in our community that are going through hardships, but most importantly my angels.
Any support that is provided, even if it is sharing the page and spreading the word is so greatly appreciated. Friends and family please feel free to reach out if you would like to walk with our team or support the cause in any way!

Goal
Christina is participating in Light The Night Toronto on October 23 to fight blood cancers.
I’m committed to supporting the blood cancer community through Light The Night.
Blood cancers are the fifth most common form of cancer in Canada, affecting more than 155,000 Canadians—our family members, our friends and neighbours, our colleagues, ourselves. But together, we can shine a light toward a future without blood cancers.
