Hello. I hope you are staying well. Light The Night is near!!!
I have decided, once again, to continue the fight to end blood cancers by registering for the Toronto 2024 Light The Night Walk. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada’s (LLSC) Light The Night Walk is the nation’s night to pay tribute and bring hope to all those affected by blood cancer.
Tuesday, October 24th, 2024 will be my sixteenth year walking!!. I will be walking along with my sister in honor of our family members and all those out there bravely battling this horrific disease.
As many of you are aware, this is VERY personal for me. My father passed away in 2002 from Acute Myeloid Leukemia. My mother was diagnosed with Stage 3 Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2006. She is still cancer free 18 years later, due to amazing research and treatment. Two of my father's brothers also passed from blood cancer. And, my brother was diagnosed in 2020 with Myelodysplastic Syndrome. He is doing great after receiving his bone marrow transplant December 2020. LLSC has played a huge role in the advances in treatment, which my brother will now benefit from.
By participating in the Light The Night Walk, I will be raising funds to help The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada provide vital support services and information to patients at every stage of their cancer journey. Together, we can help accelerate cures and improve outcomes for thousands of Canadians affected by blood cancers.
Every day since 1955, LLS has been moving closer to finding cures for all 137 types f blood cancers. The money will also go to the most promising blood cancer research taking place at cancer centres across Canada.
Join me in my quest to raise funds to end blood cancers by making a donation.
Your support is greatly appreciated.
Thank you! Rita
