Thank you everyone for coming to CFC’s International Cyber teams Jim Albernethy Challenge page!

My name's Steve Smith. I joined CFC last September and after 3 weeks, I was unfortunately diagnosed with stage-3 Classical Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at the age of 31. It was earth shattering news and extremely terrifying. I then proceeded to have 12 chemotherapy treatments over 6 months.

CFC stood by me from day one. As you can imagine, calling up your boss 3 weeks after starting a new job, with such shocking news was hard. They told me not to worry and that they would stick by me every step of the way. I received continuous support from colleagues, management and HR.

I managed to continue working, on and off and got to know the team virtually. The people that I work with are incredible, they played a massive role in getting me through treatment and out the other side.

I am pleased to say that I received the all-clear from Lymphoma in May this year and I am recovering more and more, everyday.

I cannot imagine what Jim’s family and friends went through but this is a cause that is close to all our hearts and we aim to do our best in contributing to the challenge, in memory of Jim and all those that have suffered from this disease.
