For those who know me, you have either had the pleasure to meet my step-dad Ken or have heard some pretty crazy stories about him. But to my sister Shawna and I, he has been an integral part of our lives since childhood. I have always tried to ensure that I provided him many of my teenager (and maybe some adult) years with the stress of worrying about my life choices and decisions, but today I write this as a concerned daughter because we have recently learned he has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Lymphoma. Needless to say, this changes lives. We have learned about this fundraising event to help provide funds for research for a variety of blood cancers like his. I ask if any friends or family care to donate, both Shawna & I and our families will be doing this walk in honor of his fight.

Christie is participating in Light The Night Calgary on October 19 to fight blood cancers.
I’m committed to supporting the blood cancer community through Light The Night.
Blood cancers are the fifth most common form of cancer in Canada, affecting more than 155,000 Canadians—our family members, our friends and neighbours, our colleagues, ourselves. But together, we can shine a light toward a future without blood cancers.
