Everyone is touched by cancer in some way.
Organizations like the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) provide invaluable community and resources, saving thousands of lives through medical advancements that are funded by campaigns such as this one.
My goal is to help families like that of my friend Pino Bocchino and his wonderful son Adamo; to raise awareness for Leukemia (the most commonly diagnosed cancer among children); and to help make a difference by raising funds that can be invested in lifesaving targeted therapies.
I grew up volunteering in hospitals around the city such as the Montreal Children’s and the Jewish General. Throughout my experiences, I was exposed to the endless efforts of the hospital staff, and witnessed the profound difference that can be made in a patient’s life. Now that I’m working in the pharmaceutical industry, I can recognize, more than ever, how crucial providing patients and physicians with the necessary education and materials can be—as it fuels awareness of new therapies available on the market.
I’m reminded every day of the myriad of patients affected by cancer, and of how grateful I am for the continuous efforts in medical research. Scientific advancements require research, and research requires funding — which is why I’m honoured to have been nominated and am extremely excited to join the LLSC’s incredible campaign for Man & Woman of the Year.
I truly believe that without a profound human desire and proactivity to help those less fortunate, we would not be able to provide the necessary support to patients or discover most of the therapies on the market. I’m humbled to have the opportunity to be connected with this incredible association, as we work towards a great cause. I think it our responsibility to help motivate and give back to our community, which is why I’m hoping you support my efforts at raising money for the Society.
Togetherness in the face of difficult struggles can make all the difference. We may not be able to win every fight, but we can try our best to make a difference and work toward ending the battle once and for all.
