Who nominated me and why that was special?
Tracy Scanlan, nominated me a couple of years back – at that time we were in COVID mode and did not have the time to fully immerse in the commitment. I have always respected Tracy in Automotive and to have the same respect in return is an honor
My Why for participating:
My mom is in remission for Non Hodgkin’s lymphoma – her strength and dignity throughout her treatment has always been inspirational. Even being faced with yearly visits of “what if it returns” . Lymphoma affects the entire family, my parents lived with us during the treatments and I will say it was a blur, the support was overwhelming. The kindness of the “health team” the support room and even the stylist who shaved Mom’s hair and ordered the wig was amazing, we become human.
My reason is that I really do not think there is enough proactive responsibility and education. It is time that we take responsibility on our own health and not wait till we have a disease or illness. In Atlantic Canada, we wait till we need treatment. Our health system is in shambles, if we focused on the “why’s” – stress, exercise, healthy eating – we can help our system not drain it. I remember sitting with my mom when she received her diagnosis, first words from the Dr was – are you ever stressed? Mom worried all the time.
There’s a series on Netflix called the Blue Zone, we all need to watch it – we can together help with this crisis before the end results.
What I'm most looking forward to getting out of the 10 weeks?
It is a charity that is near and dear to my heart – if I can help make a difference with support and education that is the greatest reward ever!
What I'm most look forward to achieving together as a team?
I already have a great team with my Business team so I am used to Team effort – I would like to see this continue to help make a difference together with support from the community, corporate, family and friends working together to create awareness and know it can affect anyone.
