Here we go again! On March 21st we kicked off a ten week campaign to compete for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada Visionary of the Year Award. This year, our Purple Warriors Team nominated John MacEachern! John is inspired by his wife who is a cancer survivor. Our team is a community of people who raises awareness and funds all year round to improve the quality of life for blood cancer patients and their families, AND to ultimately help find a cure for this terrible disease.
My why is my sister-cousin Tanya Keough who celebrated five years of remission from leukemia and lymphoma this year. It is because of innovative research and support from the LLSC that Tanya is here today. She still has complications from her treatment and there is the anticipation of the cancer returning. I will stay the course until we find a cure for that reason.
Blood cancers are one of the most common cancers among children and this year we have teammates who have suffered tragic loss. We also have a teammate whose young nephew is healing from chemo and a stem cell transplant. This disease is relentless....our team is more relentless and we will beat it some day. These stories remind me of why it is ok to ask you - my friends, family, colleagues, business owners and community members for support. We pick up momentum for this ten week campaign with the goal of making a huge impact in our fight.
We will keep the fight going - and keep HOPE alive.
Please consider contributing to this mission. Thank you all so much for your continued support! YOU ARE CHANGING AND SAVING LIVES! We are just the channel to which you are doing this.
