My name is Christine Lefebvre, and I am honored to be participating in the Leukemia Lymphoma Society’s 2025 Visionary of the Year Campaign taking place from March 27th-June 6th. My inspiration comes from my nephew’s 18-month battle with blood cancer and the support of the Purple Warriors running group, whose members have long been committed to this mission. It was fellow Purple Warrior Nancy MacDonald who nominated me, believing I could make a meaningful impact. Her encouragement was the final push I needed to dive into this campaign full tilt.
Having witnessed my nephew Calum’s fight against a rare form of AML at the age of 3—three rounds of chemotherapy, countless tests, and a life-saving bone marrow transplant—I am driven by the need for more research and funding in pediatric blood cancer care. I’m also inspired by his brother Lauchlin, who, at 8 years old, gave his bone marrow to help save Calum, showing incredible bravery.
My mission is to raise awareness and set a new standard in blood cancer fundraising. There is a critical need for advancements in pediatric AML research and mental health support for young donors and siblings. I dedicate my efforts to Calum and Lauchlin and invite others to join me. It takes a village, and with my team, I believe we can make a difference.
Blood cancer research not only impacts leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma patients, but also paves the way for breakthroughs in all cancers. I am committed to this cause and ready to give my all. If you’d like to get involved—by donating or participating—please join my team. Together, we can make a lasting impact.
