Why? That was the first question I asked myself when I was honoured with the nomination to participate in this meaningful fundraising effort.
Two of the core mission pillars of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) immediately resonated with me:
1) Research: LLSC has invested over $3 million in cutting-edge cancer research, supporting labs like Dr. Barsyte-Lovejoy's at MaRS. I'll visit her lab in May to witness the impact firsthand. This isn't just fundraising - it's driving real progress.
2) Patient Support: Meeting Ava, one of LLSC's Honoured Heroes, at our campaign kickoff was inspiring. Diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia at 10, she received a life-saving bone marrow transplant from her brother. Now, at 17, she is cancer-free and planning her future. Reflecting on my own health at her age, I realize how much I took it for granted. Supporting this cause is an honour, and I want to help ensure young people don't have to face this disease.
These are just two powerful examples of the impact LLSC makes every day. That’s why I’m proud to support this cause and invite my family, friends, and colleagues to join me.
