Decades ago, a small town girl met a big city girl and they became fast friends- sisters in fact, once they realized neither had siblings of their own. For almost 35 years they have shared pretty much everything there is to share, from the highest highs to lowest lows- prom, university visits, first career jobs and businesses, weddings, the birth of children, and sadly, the death of a spouse far too early.
James was an incredible husband, father, and friend. I don’t believe there was anyone who didn’t enjoy his company, his huge laugh, his steadiness. When he was shockingly diagnosed with the same rare blood cancer his own mother had died from he immediately began to fight with everything he had to stay with his beautiful family. It was a relatively short fight, not enough time, but enough to write letters to his young children, and love them and Robin well.
I can still hear his voice and his big, boisterous laugh. I can see him in their beautiful children that my husband and I are blessed to Godparent. I think of him daily as I strive to live by lessons learned from this loss.
Please help me to help Robin raise the funds to find a cure for Leukemia, so no one else has to lose another beautiful human like James.
A Visionary: someone with the confidence to amplify their voice to speak for those unheard.
Each candidate for Visionaries of the Year 2023 is an innovator in their field; I am honoured to be part of this team of driven individuals as we strive to support the blood cancer community. Join me in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) by donating to my fundraising team and campaign for Visionary of the Year 2023.
Starting March 23, 2023, our team will embark on an intense 10-week fundraising competition between philanthropic leaders in communities across Canada. Funds raised help propel critical research, provide services, and advance advocacy efforts for people with blood cancer and their families.
Each dollar raised from March 23rd to June 1st equals one vote for our team. The candidate who, alongside their team, raises the most funds will win the prestigious titles of “Visionary of the Year” 2023. Last year’s winners raised more than $100,000 each!
Aside from donating, you can help in other ways like spreading the word! Share my candidate page link with friends, family and colleagues who would also like to help end blood cancers and support the blood cancer community. Donating is fast, easy, and yes, tax deductible.
Thank you for supporting the blood cancer community during Visionaries of the Year 2023!
