I strongly believe that community is built when individuals step up to do the right thing. Throughout my life, I have been passionate about supporting the local and global community and have lent my assistance to a number of charitable organizations. So, when I was nominated to participate in the Visionaries of the Year campaign with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada, it was an easy yes.
Having been personally impacted by blood cancer through the loss of a young schoolmate and, later, a good friend from work, I see my participation as a way not only to support the wider blood cancer community, but as an opportunity to remember two wonderful people.
As I embark on this 10-week competition, I am look forward to bringing family, friends, and colleagues together to rally behind this important cause. The work the LLSC does is critical to supporting anyone affected by blood cancer. As a father myself, I am passionate about their dedication to advancing pediatric care. While we have seen a great increase in pediatric survivorship in the last 30+ years, the long-term impacts of a childhood diagnosis are evident. We need better, less harmful ways of treating children affected by blood cancer.
Bringing together my community to have a lasting impact on the future of blood cancer is my goal. I am eager to see what we can accomplish together!
