Light The Night is Canada’s largest annual fundraising event dedicated to the blood cancer community. It raises funds for critical research, community programs, and advocacy for all 137 types of blood cancers. 

Once again I’m participating for our Julia.  After fighting AML for close to 5 years we lost her on Aug 19, 2022. She was only 16.  A quote that resonated with her was, “You may see me fall, but you will never see me quit.” This is how she faced AML and the treatment.  With 6 relapses it was a hard fight. 

 In rare cases leukemia cells can form a solid tumor called a myeloid sarcoma. Julia would experience that with 2 of her relapses.  In other rare cases extremely painful skin infiltration can occur. Julia experienced that in her final days, all while being the strongest and bravest person that I will ever know. So when the LLSC uses funds raised to support life-enhancing research I need to participate.  No one should have to go through what Julia went through.
