Goal

Team Lia is participating in Light The Night Toronto on October 23 to fight blood cancers.

We’re proud to support the blood cancer community through Light The Night.

Blood cancers are the fifth most common form of cancer in Canada, affecting more than 155,000 Canadians—our family members, our friends and neighbours, our colleagues, ourselves. But together, we can shine a light toward a future without blood cancers.

Team Lia

Fighting blood cancer at any stage of your life can be difficult, but Lia Goh began her battle at the age of three. In March 2009, the Goh family arrived at Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children where they received the devastating news that Lia had been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).

Lia then began more than two years of intensive chemotherapy treatments that would see her hair fall out and her joints become sore, while enduring nausea and frequent blood transfusions. In spite of the difficulties, Lia’s strength, incredible spirit and lively humor kept the whole family fighting each day. Today, thanks to the success of her treatment, a wonderful team of doctors and organizations, and the support of many friends and family, this amazing little girl is celebrating her fifteenth year of remission!

On June 27th, we are hosting a James Bond themed dinner to raise funds for Light The Night, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada's signature fundraising campaign. Your gift will help accelerate life-enhancing research that will move the needle on developing less harmful treatments and ultimately cures for blood cancers.

When Lia served as Co-Chair for Light The Night Toronto in 2022, she coined the hastag, #inmylifetime. In recent decades, we've seen survival rates for ALL increase from 20% to upwards of 85%. We know 100% survival is possible in our lifetime.

Thank you for your support.
