Light The Night St. John's

Stronger Than Strong

Welcome to Stronger Than Strong's fundraising page! We've been walking in memory of my George Murphy for the past 5 years. Last year we also started walking in honour of Abigale Latoszek, this years Honoured Hero for St. John’s. Last year we raised over $15,000 and this year we'd like to go bigger!

Let me tell you a bit about our Superstars:

George was a hilarious, generous soul. He was the type of person to take the shirt off his back for someone in need. Family meant the world to him, and he was our glue. George was a local artist specialising in typical Newfoundland scenery. Over the years he taught art classes, made sets for filmed shows at CBC and opened his own souvenir store with his wife Irene where his art is still being sold to tourists all over the world. George had battled a couple different cancers which he won before lastly being diagnosed with Leukemia. When I tell you he put up a fight, I mean it! Even throughout his last months, weeks & days he found a way to continue to use art as an outlet. Our family still feels the loss of him everyday.

Abigale is a smart, beautiful 8 year old who was diagnosed with (SR B-Cell AL) Leukemia at the age of 5. Abigale is a lover of animals, mainly horses, crafting, dancing & singing. She has been the definition of strong throughout her battle so far and RANG THE BELL in August. Abigale is a part of a study to help get a new drug approved for childhood cancer. With all of our fingers crossed. She is usually found smiling throughout her pain. And very proud to represent St. John’s this year.

We walk for them. We raise money for them. We support them.

We are Stronger Than Strong and hope that you stand with us!

Goal

Stronger Than Strong is participating in St. John's on October 22 to fight blood cancers.

We’re proud to support the blood cancer community through Light The Night.

Blood cancers are the fifth most common form of cancer in Canada, affecting more than 155,000 Canadians—our family members, our friends and neighbours, our colleagues, ourselves. But together, we can shine a light toward a future without blood cancers.

Please consider making a donation today. Thank you for your support!
